Frequently
Asked Questions
|
Won't they melt?
No, beeswax has a melting point of 142 degrees. It will not melt in your home. Just like a candle won't melt
unless you light it,beeswax ornaments remain beautiful year after year.
Can I store them in the attic?
Attic storage is not recommended. They won't melt, but they might warp.
We suggest storing them in a closet or drawer or basement.
My ornament turned white. What's going on?
Beeswax develops a white haze over time. This is called the bloom. It develops more rapidly
in cold temperatures. Beeswax likes to be warm, and simply rinsing the ornament with warm water
will wash the bloom away. My favorite way of cleaning the ornament, though, is to take a blow dryer
and run it over the ornament until it turns shiny again.
What kind of paint can be used on the ornaments?
The ornaments can be painted with acrylic craft paint.
How do you make the ornaments so nice and shiny?
We apply a professional candle sheen to the ornaments to give them a shiny finish.
Can a broken ornament be fixed?
Unfortunately, just as glass will break if you drop it, wax ornaments will also break.
Some people try to warm the broken pieces and stick them back together, but the results
are not usually acceptable; replacing the ornament is best.
Why does beeswax smell so good?
There is some residual honey left in the wax after refining. The scent of my ornaments is
the natural honey smell. Warmth will bring out the scent.
It is possible to add a scent to my ornament?
Yes, just rub a little essential oil or perfume on the back of the ornament, and refresh whenever you wish.
Are there quantity discounts?
Quantity discounts may be possible. Just send me an e-mail for wholesale terms.
I want to change the buttons on my decorated gingerbread man; how should I do it?
We use a "sticky wax" to apply buttons and other decorations, but you can use
Elmer's glue or Tacky glue if you wish to change the buttons.
What other uses for beeswax are there?
Tailors use beeswax to lubricate pins and needles.
Carpenters use beeswax to make nails go in easier.
Beeswax can be used on sleds and skis for better sliding ability.
